Two Beans in a Wheel While shopping for a used car in San Francisco, Darien Lambert (Dale Midkiff) is threatened at gunpoint by Ivan Mallory (Josh McWilliam), a professional assassin. However, Eve Thorn (Chelsea Field), a beautiful woman, shoots Mallory, who collapses into the bay. Eve is another police officer from the future. Eve explains that she was sent back to 1993 to aid Darien when police forces in the future learned that Dr. Mordicai Sahmbi (Peter Donat) was trying to steal the Holy Grail. As they work together, Darien and Eve develop a very strong mutual attraction. Using the scant evidence Eve provides him, Darien and his micro-computer, "Selma" (Elizabeth Alexander), discover a book dealer who holds the clue to the current location of the Grail. Coming from the future, both Darien and Eve know that the Grail was found in 1993, but surfaced only briefly and then quickly disappeared. Eve and Darien rush to the book dealer's shop only to discover that he has been killed. However, Selma locates a clue that leads Darien and Eve to Brother Pio (Basil Clarke), a Benedictine monk living in a nearby monastery. Pio shows them a medieval book that provides some clues for locating the Grail. He insists that the clues prove that the Grail will never be found, but Darien thinks that Pio doesn't trust him and is lying. Afterwards, Darien asks Selma to help locate the Grail, based on their new knowledge. That evening, Eve and Darien remain overnight at the monastery. Eve comes to Darien's room to seduce him. Darien rejects her advances. But during her alluring diversion, she steals his PPT< a 22nd century weapon, and shoots him with a knock-out pill. Eve actually works for Sahmbi and never really shot Mallory. After he awakens, Darien talks to Eve and learns that she was a cop in the future, who went undercover to catch a drug kingpin. She believed the man was so evil that she assassinated him. Hunted by organized crime, Eve contacted Sahmbi, who sent her back in time. Now if Eve doesn't follow Sahmbi's orders, he threatens to send her to the future again to be killed. Sahmbi interrupts Darien and Eve. He holds Pio at gunpoint and forces Darien to use Selma to provide the location of the Grail. Selma's information leads them to San Simeon, where William Randolph Hearst's castle is located. Hearst bought a medieval abbey, had it boxed, moved to California and left in a nearby warehouse. Somewhere within the boxes is the Grail. Sahmbi sends Brother Pio to retrieve the Grail. Belatedly, Darien is able to tell Eve that Sahmbi does not have the advanced equipment with him to send her back to the future. Eve helps Darien foil Sahmbi. When Pio grabs the Grail, Darien sends Pio to the 22nd century with it. Sahmbi escapes, but Darien releases Eve, promising her they'll meet again. |
