SHOWDOWN

Darien Lambert (Dale Midkiff) and his holographic computer, "Selma"(Elizabeth Alexander), are sent to Phoenix, Arizona to retrieve Edward T. Kanigher, a 22nd century lawman convicted of taking bribes. On the way to Phoenix, Darien is captured by Stacy Galt (Brian Vriends), an escaped convict. Galt steals Darien's jeep and PPT(his compact weapon for teleporting fugitives back to the future)

Miles from the nearest town and with no water or supplies, Darien is concerned about his chances for survival in the desert heat. Even Selma is not optimistic. After walking a few miles, Darien is found by Tom Kane (Stuart Whitman), a U.S. Marshal. Kane gives his water, which saves Darien's life.

Darien is very impressed with Kane because he looks and acts like an authentic old west marshal. The two men travel together, following Galt's tracks until they find Galt's abandoned jeep. But Galt is hiding nearby. He shoots Kane, badly wounding his arm. Darien becomes Galt's deputy marshal, whose job is to arrest Galt.

Kane knows that Galt intends to kill Sunny Tyler (Jennifer Congram), Galt's ex-girlfriend who helped in Galt's initial capture. Darien leaves Kane and finds Sunny, but she and Galt have reconciled. Galt again captures Darien and locks him in a prison cell. Kane survives the gunshot wound and arrives in time to rescue Darien. Selma identifies Kane as Edward Kanigher, the man they were sent to find.

As they make their way along the dangerous approach to Galt's cabin, Darine confesses to Kane that he is a plice officer from the future, sent to capture Galt. Shortly after this admission, Darien slips off the trail and almost falls to his death. Despite the possible consequences, Kane saves Darien's life.

When they reach Galt's cabin, Kane confronts Galt openly while Darien hides, waiting to capture Galt. Just before Darien apprehends him, Galt shots Kane. As Kane is dying, Darien offers to send him back to the future where medical aid can help him. Kane refuses, wishing to die like a man in the "past" rather then live as a prisoner in his own time.
