The thieves, Kristen Conrad (Gail O'Grady) and Jorge Santiago (Andrew McFarlane), are using 22nd century techniques to steal the world's most precious diamonds. Darien isn't the only one interested in the thieves, though. Dr. Mordicai Sahmbi (Peter Donat) knows of their crimes and demands his percentage. Selma computes that their next destination is Houston Texas, to steal a huge diamond known as "the sun". Darien rushes there, but immediately encounters a problem. The only rental car available has a manual transmission and he doesn't have any experience driving a stick shift. Darien slams his car into the rear end of a Houston Police car. An attractive officer, Nicole Nolan (natalie McCurry), writes him a ticket. later, Darien goes to police headquarters, claiming to be an investigator from De Beers. He tells the police captain that two thieves are in Houston to steal the famous diamond. The captain asigns Nicole to be Darien's partner to help him prevent the robbery. While he and Nicole are having lunch, Selma alerts Darien that one of the thieves is nearby! Darien rushes to arrest Jorge, but he gets away. When Nicole hurries over to assist him, she is hit by Kristen, driving the get-away car. Nicole's leg and her neck are broken, but Darien is able to fix them in the ambulance by using 22nd century techniques. Nicole's captain checks Darien's background and learns he is not who he claims to be. Darien is arrested, but, with Nicole's help, he escapes. They rush to the Houston Gem Exhibition, getting there too late. Jorge and Kristen have already stolen "the Sun". Darien and Nicole catch up with the thieves. Jorge manages to subdue Nicole. He forces Darien to hand over his PPT weapon, Darien's weapon for teleporting fugitives back to the future. Then, Darien tricks Jorge with a sudden move. Jorge's shot of the drug TXP, from the weapon, hits Kristen, sending her back to 2193. Jorge cannot bear the thought of being separated from Kristen, so Darien shoots Jorge and sends them both back to the 22nd century. Nicole recovers the diamonds and is a heroine. |
